In the last several years, with the commercialization of the Internet and the explosive growth of the World Wide Web (WWW), we have seen the realization of many people's dream of a universal information database, accessible to people from around the world, and organized in a way that related information is easily discovered. What the WWW has done is provide users connected to computer networks with a consistent means to access a wide variety of media in a simplified fashion.

With the wide spread deployment of the Internet and the WWW both as a public resource and as corporate and home private resources, people have come to recognize the utility of attaching low-cost devices to networks for the purposes of communicating with these devices using standard networking protocols, including TCP, IP, and HTTP. In fact, connecting almost any device to a network immediately increases the utility of that device because that it can now be accessed remotely for the purposes of data display, remote control, testing, diagnosis, configuration, communication, etc. If connected to the Internet, that device becomes instantly accessible from virtually any place in the world.

Devices that can connect any equipment to the internet and provide their monitoring call WEB PC. They support connection thought Ethernet line or using standard modem connection. In addition connection through GSM/GPRS modem is also possible. Now any low cost system can be monitored though it's own small web site that loads directly from additional Web PC board that attached to the system. Just image that system has communication block with Wireless GSM/GPRS modem and can provide email exchange with the other world. And it's not a dream any more but reality.

Web PC mostly based on 8 and 16 bit micro controllers with attached Ethernet controller or ISDN modem or GSM/GPRS modem from one side and some data transmition interfaces for communication with equipment from the other. They have RTOSs that provide full TCP/IP stack inclusive internet protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, POP.

Using such kind of completely finished modules that provide now market three different system were created during practical semester at FH-Konstaz, Germany : "Laser control system", "Internet Energy counter","Net Control".
